My advice is to have a search on the net, go to a good supplier and get their advice or read up in the Snowboarding magazines - remember to be careful if the reviewer is being paid for the review...
Snowboard clothing - undergarments, shirt, pullover, knee pads, pants, jacket or parka and gloves/mittens. Maybe some headgear, like a headband and eyewear...
Way back I can remember one of my girlfriends travelling to Scotland to do her big OE (Oversea's Experience). She found a job in Scotland working in a hotel very close to Aviemore skifield. The main recollection I have of the letters that she sent to me was of how cold it was living in this region. So my advice to anyone wanting to Snowboard at Aviemore is to make sure you have endless layers of clothing and find a warm place to stay after the Snowboarding.
Do you want to do a little backcountry snowboarding? If you are unfamiliar with the area it is wise to sign up the services of an experienced guide. Before you do this ask friends who may have snowboarded in the region for a recommended guide. If you don't know anyone you may like to search the internet for some feedback. Another alternative is to ask the resort where you are staying for recommendations. A little research before your trip can save you. The 'right' guide can 'make' the experience. Find out if the guide is qualified and a member of one of the Mountain Guide Associations. The guide needs to be trained in avalanche avoidance and rescue as well as have emergency medical training. Radio or phone contact is a prerequisite. A good guide will make you feel comfortable and inspire you to master the challenges backcountry snowboarding can confront you with...
On the surface Aspen can appear to be a ritzy place just for the rich to play up. When you get past this and get into the mountains there is some, no more than that, plenty of amazing steep and gnarly terrain. This is a home for the true snowboarder, not just a place to wear the gear with the rich pseudo-snowboarders/skiiers. If you want to feel the thrill of some real terrain and the crisp air to match it - you will find the runs here!
Would you fancy a Snowboarding trip to Austria? The Arlberg region has an interconnected lift system linking the four major resorts of Lech, St. Christoph, Zurs and St. Anton. The trails of the Arlberg region mostly big, rolling slopes above the tree line. St Anton is the largest of the four with 260 kilometers of variable terrain and is particularly satisfying for snowboarders.
